Greetings from the Sassafras River - just off the northern East side of the Chesapeake Bay. We departed before 6:00 AM Thursday morning from Cape May, NJ - it was very windy, pouring rain, and very dark when we left so needless to say, it was a little hairy - but once again Paul maneuvered Master Plan with great skill. We went through the Cape May Canal and then were in the Delaware Bay for about 5 hours - it was pretty snotty for the first hour, but as the bay narrowed, it got a lot better. Overall the day was pretty dreary - it rained all day and was pretty dismal, but other than the beginning of the day, the seas were quite calm so it was overall a great ride. Despite the weather, however, the countryside here is pretty breathtaking - I can't wait for the sun to come out so we can really see it in all its glory.
We anchored in the Sassafras River last night in a beautiful and calm spot but with intermittent internet signal - so I was unable to post this last night. We had some of Paul's famous Bolognese sauce (delish) and hung out watching TV and relaxing. All the comforts of home!
Due to the poor internet signal, downloading photos is difficult - so look for photos later today - we just left Sassafras and are heading to Annapolis - 40 miles away.
Thanks for following our journey . . .
Those who know me know how much I love quotes - so I'll end this post with:
When a great adventure is offered, you don't refuse it.
