Charleston, SC - Night #17 and Beyond!

Hello from our temporary "home" in Charleston!  We arrived this morning at about 10:30 AM and will stay here until December 10th.  We are at the Charleston Maritime Center and it's a beautiful marina in a great area of Charleston.  We just got back from the grocery store - called Harris Teeter - less than a 10-minute walk - a fabulous store and open 24 hours!  We are about a 15-minute walk from Market Street (the main drag) - we haven't done it yet, but am sure we will soon.  We are looking forward to exploring the area.

We left the Isle of Palms this morning after a beautiful sunrise.

If you look at Charleston on a map - it is a peninsula and we are on the Eastern side along the Ashlee River.  If you have been to Charleston, we are really close to the South Carolina Aquarium. There is a huge navy battleship across the river from us and today a huge ship went by . . .  Both of these photos were taken from the boat.

It was forecasted to rain here to day, but we only got a few light showers - however, the wind has really picked up.  Master Plan is rocking and rolling at the dock, but it's much better now than it was earlier.  The forecast looks awesome for the days ahead - high 60's/low 70's and sunny.  Nice!  Last night we did not put on the heat for the first time and I type this wearing shorts and flip flops!

Our neighbors here are really nice - more cute dogs.  Marley - pictured here - and his owners are right behind us - they are heading south tomorrow.

I'll take more photos tomorrow and we'll report more about the area as we start to explore.  Thanks again for following along - love Jen & Paul

  1. It seems like just a few days ago when I checked your blog, but is turned out to be something like day 4. So in reading through to day 17, all I can say is what a great adventure your on! This blog thing is great for us landlocked armchair adventurers living vicariously though your travels. Every day, everything you see is a new place, pretty cool. Congratulations on getting to Charleston. Sounds like the biggest hickups so far were the dredge pipe in the Dismal Swamp (great name!) and running aground on the way to Surf City (so much for the depth finder!). Looking forward to your next installments...
