Myrtle Beach (Area), SC - Night #15

Hard to believe it was two weeks ago today that we left Rhode Island - what a fantastic journey this has been.  Tonight we are at this wonderful little marina in a remote location called Osprey Marina.  It says it's Myrtle Beach, but we're definitely southwest of MB by at least 15 miles.  It's a quiet and beautiful little spot with free wifi, spotless showers, and friendly staff.  We're loving it!

A big milestone today was crossing the state line to South Carolina after being in North Carolina for a week.  We were expecting a big sign along the ICW - maybe even a marching band and fireworks - but no . . .  basically, it was a crooked stick with a small sign on it along the shore . . .  Pretty low key - so Paul and I looked at each other and said "Welcome to South Carolina!" and that was pretty much it.
The state line marker in all its glory.
There are many interesting sites along the ICW - wildlife, birds, beautiful boats, friendly people, etc.

Lots of shrimp boats and processing plants
This is a pontoon bridge that has been replaced by the newly constructed bridge behind it - it was one of only two left along the ICW.
The water is still coffee colored and it looks like a space ship behind us, but it's an airport near Myrtle Beach.
Today we had a very interesting siting.  For all of you golfers out there - you'll appreciate this.  There are a ton of condo developments along the ICW in South Carolina with golf courses.  At one point along today's route, there was a gondola that went over us for golfers.  So - when you're going from one hole to the next, you put your clubs in the back and hop on the gondola - cross the ICW - and continue your round!  Hilarious!
The gondola station on one side . . .

Well - I can't figure out how to fix this - sorry - so tilt your head a little so you can see the golf bags in the back!
There are LOTS of condos for sale if anyone is interested!  Lots of overbuilding here.

What people will do so you don't throw off a wake - this is a mannequin in the front yard!  Really?  Really?
A gi-normous house in "Grand Dunes" development - they even have their own private bridge over the ICW.

So we quickly went from "Grand Dunes" to the woods and this cool area along the river where our marina is.  You can see the Spanish Moss on the trees - very beautiful.

We arrived to our marina today just after 3:00 PM - it's an adorable marina in a peaceful location and we are in the "go" position tomorrow morning to head out - just a stone's throw from the ICW.
The view from our bow at our slip - at the end of this inlet is the ICW.
The proud captain after a perfect docking!
Master Plan is in the middle - lots of nice boats here - you really don't expect it when you're going along this remote area.

So we're enjoying some cheese & crackers - we'll take showers soon, make some dinner and then hunker down for the Patriots game.  I can tell we're definitely moving more West as the sun is setting a little later here.  It's almost 5:30 PM and it's still a little light out . . .

Thank you all for joining us in cyberspace on this cool experience - we send our love and best wishes to all!

Jen & Paul
