Belhaven, NC - Night #11

Greetings from Master Plan from beautiful Belhaven, North Carolina!  It was another great day on the ICW.  We left Elizabeth City this morning after a day's break just after 7AM.  I'm not gonna lie, I was a little sad leaving as we had such a great time there - the city really is amazing - its people and hospitality - it has such a great vibe.
Leaving Elizabeth City . . . until next time . . .
We traveled a total of 85 miles today.  We headed south down the Pasquatonk River, through the Albemarle Sound and to the Alligator River.  There was a cool swing bridge at the mouth of the Alligator River and I took a few photos:
Going to the bridge - the sailboat Si Su in front of us (the really nice family of 5 we docked next to on Sunday night)

Thanks for the opening!
We then spent 22 miles on the Alligator River / Pungo River Canal -
22 miles of a straight and deep canal - nice!  You still have to watch for stumps, etc, but it was an easy ride.
Such an easy ride that even the Captain himself was able to put his feet up!

The water is still a bit coffee-colored . . .  Master Plan leaves its wake.

ICW Mile Marker - these appear periodically along the way . . .
We arrived to Belhaven just before 4PM - what a beautiful little town.  The marina here is fantastic - nice dock with lots of great amenities - free wifi, great showers, electricity, and very reasonable fees.

Heading into Belhaven . . .

Sunset from Master Plan's bow - not bad . . .
We met up with John & Melissa - who we met in Elizabeth City.  They're from Vermont and live on their sailboat and are heading south - eventually to the Bahamas.   They saw us come into the harbor and called us on the marine radio and we had dinner with them at a great seafood place - of course the crab here is delicious.

Tomorrow we continue south to Morehead City, NC - about 70 miles from here.  The weather is looking a little iffy, but we plan to leave early so we can get ahead of it.   We are at mile 136 now and Charleston is Mile 459 - so we're getting closer . . . we'll probably be there in about a week.

Thanks again for your support and friendship!  Until tomorrow - love, Jen & Paul
