On this trip, we have tried to go to all different marinas and places - until today. We have returned to Osprey Marina for the third time because we really love this place! It's just past Myrtle Beach and in a beautiful wooded area. They just built a brand new dock and since it is a longer distance to the main building, they also provided us with our own golf cart - how cool is that?
We left Southport, NC this morning and worked our way south. We crossed into South Carolina today and it took us longer than usual as we were against the tides and the currents most of the day. We pulled in here just after 3:00 PM and I did some laundry and we just had some dinner on the boat - some pasta and Paul's famous Bolognese. Now we're hanging out watching TV - we just watched some Seinfeld re-runs - too funny.
One thing we've noticed on this trip is there are so many flies in the boat. We hardly had any flies on the boat last fall, but we think it's because the weather is milder this year. Usually, while we're cruising during the day, we open the doors and this year, the flies have been crazy. Last night during our Walmart run, we purchased two fly swatters and have now dubbed ourselves the great fly hunters! We've had great success as the boat appears to be "fly-less" this evening!
A cold front did come in overnight last night and today was much cooler - bright sunshine, but definitely 10-20 degrees cooler than it has been. It is cool this evening, but fortunately, the heat works very well on the boat and we're very comfortable. The temperatures are supposed to rise over the weekend!
Right now, we're less than 100 miles from Charleston - so we are still figuring out how far we'll go tomorrow - then on Sunday, we'll reach Charleston and stay there for a week.
Enjoy today's photos:
Sunrise in Southport, NC - the moon has been beautiful! |
Lots of commercial fishing boats along the ICW |
For those who followed last year, I get such a kick out of this - there is a golf course near Myrtle Beach that crosses the ICW and golfers get from one side to the other via gondola - how funny! |
The gondola up close - you can see the golf bags on the right. |
Paul took me to the main building so I could do laundry (you can see it piled in the back) - nice to have my own chauffeur! |
Master Plan at the dock. I took this photo from the fuel dock - you can see Paul in the cockpit. |
If you look closely, you can see "Paul's taxi" driving to come pick me up! |
