Isle of Palms, SC - Mile 458

Good Sunday morning to all!

I type this as Master Plan glides down the ICW en route to Charleston - we should be there within the hour.  We spent last night at Isle of Palms Marina - we did stop there last year - and had an enjoyable evening.   There is a fun restaurant right next to the marina where we grabbed a quick bite to eat, then settled in for a relaxing evening.

We traveled about 85 miles yesterday and it is amazing how much the landscape changes - we started in the wooded Waccamaw River and ended up in the beautiful low country.  We did have an exciting moment and a "first" for us - a bobcat swam across the ICW right in front of our boat - I grabbed some great photos - see below.  There were also some dolphin sitings and a few great blue herons along the way.  So cool.

Enjoy the photos -
Master Plan at Osprey Marina moments before our departure - you can see the fog ahead - actually steam since the water is so much warmer than the air.

Heading down the Waccamaw River - beautiful and peaceful - Paul did use the fog horn a few times.  We weren't really concerned about not seeing other boats our size, but there are a lot of small boats - mostly fishermen - that cruise around the ICW.
The wooded Waccamaw River behind us.
A bird's nest above one of the channel markers.
A bobcat swimming across the ICW - if you look closely, you can see his short tail.  We did a little google research last night and found out that Bobcats are the only wild cat found in South Carolina - so it was easy for us to figure out what we saw!!
We saw it starting across and at first weren't sure what it was - as last year, we saw an alligator here almost in the same place - but we could tell right away it wasn't an alligator!

A great blue heron along the shore with Master Plan's wake in the foreground.

Typical scenery along the ICW as you get closer to Charleston.
"Hello" from the Captain!

Sunset over Isle of Palms . . .
Master Plan at dock just before sunset

We are heading into Charleston Harbor as I type this and lots of dolphins are playing around us - so I need to get going so I can prepare for our docking!  We will stay in Charleston until next Monday - so we look forward to spending more time in this awesome city.

Until the next posting - thanks for following along and for your love and support!  Love, Jen & Paul
