Charleston - Mile 469

Good evening from Charleston!

We are so happy to be back in this great city!  We love it here for so many reasons - great history, great restaurants, great weather, great marina . . .  We are here for a week - until next Monday, November 21st.

We had a very short trip this morning - we left Isle of Palms and took the hour journey to Charleston Maritime Center.  We are along the Cooper River here and in close proximity to downtown, a great grocery store, and other conveniences.  If you are looking at a map, we're on the East side of the city, near the aquarium.

Every "second Sunday," they close one of their main streets (King Street) to traffic and restaurants set up their seating outside and everyone comes out - we enjoyed that today - it was great to walk around and enjoy the city.  We also ran into a friend from last year who is en route to Florida as well and had dinner at "Sticky Fingers" - great wings and beer!  We're now hanging out watching the Patriots and settled in for the evening.  GO PATS!

Enjoy today's photos:
Sunrise at Isle of Palms - taken off of Master Plan's bow

This egret is the mascot at the Marina Office - I snapped this right before we left.
King Street on "second Sunday" - they open the street and everyone is out - lots of dogs, strollers, etc.  A fun afternoon!  This street is a very busy street typically - tons of shopping and restaurants - it is nice to enjoy it without cars!
We met "Dahlia" - a sweet dog on the dock this evening - sorry that I can't figure out how to correct the position so it is sideways!  So just turn your head to the right please!
A tug and barge go by us - in the background across the Cooper river is the aircraft carrier - which is now a museum.
There we are - on the dock on the Cooper River - "HUH NEE!"
Another view from the dock - the Cooper River Bridge at twilight - looks a little like the Zakim Bridge in Boston.
We had our underwater lights on and it attracted lots of tiny fish this evening - we tried to get a good photo.
We wish all of you a great week ahead - we'll be enjoying Charleston, working, and running errands, etc.  We hope everyone is doing well - sending our love, Jen & Paul
