After we left Nashville, we headed to the very northeast corner of Tennessee - Cumberland Gap. This charming historic town was the site for the "Streaming the Gap" Airstream Rally for 3 nights over the weekend. We parked our Airstreams on the town's main street and it was a blast. We ended up with really fun neighbors and played cornhole and enjoyed campfires together. There were about 30 Airstreams in total who participated and we truly enjoyed meeting not only the other Airstreamers, but also our local hosts who could not have been more welcoming and proud of their town.
Cumberland Gap is located below the Cumberland Gap, a historic mountain pass for which is the town's namesake and inside the boundaries of the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park. Over the years, many travelled through the Gap as it was one of the lowest/easier points where you can pass over the Appalachian Mountains. Fun fact - the town changed hands four times during the Civil War, but no battles actually took place there. You can learn more about the town's history here.
Our first morning we hiked the Tri-State Trail, where the 3 states of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee meet - it was a beautiful morning and the views were lovely.
We also took a few walks from town that involved going through two covered bridges and a tunnel.
The National Historic Park is very close so we visited there and from inside the park at the Pinnacle Overlook, you could see the town and all the Airstreams lined up!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful area and hope to join this rally again next year.
After the Rally, we headed south, just east of Knoxville and near the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to a beautiful campground called Anchor Down RV Resort - about a 90-minute drive from Cumberland Gap. It rained most of Sunday, but the weather was lovely for the next 2 days. We decided to stay an extra night, so we enjoyed a site with a fireplace (our first) for the first two nights, then a site with a firepit and gorgeous view the last night.

While in the area, we also visited the Douglas Dam - our 8th Dam of this trip - which is very close to the campground. The campground overlooks Douglas Lake.
We are now in Huntsville, Alabama, working our way south. We'll be on the Florida panhandle on Friday afternoon and enjoy that area for 6 nights - then off the Naples we go - our plan is to be there on Halloween.
